Nottingham Forest supremo Fawaz Al Hasawi has explained why he did not attend the club's 150th anniversary gala dinner held on Monday evening, while insisting work on appointing a new manager continues.

The event, which was held on the same evening Leicester City were crowned Premier League champions, saw the club's first team squad, along with former Forest players and dignitaries, in attendance.

But Al Hasawi, along with current first team coaches Paul Williams and Andy Reid, were not present at the event and the Forest supremo has explained why he missed the gala, providing photographic proof to back up his reason.

"I was attending to business in Kuwait and sadly my flight to the UK was cancelled. I was desperately disappointed to miss the event", he wrote on Twitter.

"Congratulations to the winners of all awards and also to the staff who made the dinner such a success", he added.

Al Hasawi also insists that the search for a new manager to take over at the City Ground is in progress, with potential appointments being looked at closely.

Gus Poyet is currently leading the betting to take charge at Forest, but Al Hasawi is staying tight-lipped over who his first choice might be.

"I would also like to assure #NFFC fans that the hard work continues to find our new manager. Candidates are being heavily scrutinised", the Forest owner explained.

"While naturally there is much speculation, official #NFFC channels are the only source of confirmed information", the Forest supremo added.
