Clement Chantome has confirmed that he will quit Bordeaux in the summer, with Brighton and Middlesbrough leading a whole host of English clubs in holding an interest in the former Paris Saint-Germain star.

The midfielder’s present contract with Bordeaux is set to expire in the summer, with him having joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2015.

Chantome, who has scored two goals and provided as many assists in 33 appearances in all competitions in the present campaign, has so far failed to agree with Bordeaux upon the details of a contract extension.

"I don’t think I'll be here next season”, he was quoted as saying by French outlet Foot Mercato.

“I'm out of contract, I have had no proposals about a renewal, so for now I'm leaving.

“We have been in discussions over the last few weeks, and they have gone where everyone wanted it to go, but when we don't agree, we won't try to force things.”

Several Premier League clubs such as Everton, Stoke and newly crowned champions Leicester City are keeping close tabs on Chantome.

But Championship clubs Middlesbrough and Brighton & Hove Albion are leading the way in the race for the 28-year-old, according to French magazine France Football.

Chantome, who is a product of PSG’s youth system, amassed 240 appearances for the French giants, netting time nines and setting up 16 goals.

He also has a single senior cap for France to his name.
