Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele has been charged by the English Football Association with alleged violent conduct and could be banned for more than the standard three games.

Dembele was involved in an incident in the first half of Spurs' 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, which saw him clash with Diego Costa.

The incident was not seen by the match officials, but was caught on video and the FA say it is alleged that the behaviour of the Belgian was violent conduct in circumstances where a three-match ban would be insufficient, meaning Dembele is looking at a lengthy suspension if found guilty.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also been hit with charges.

Both clubs are charged with failing to control their players and/or officials, with three breaches of FA Rule E20 alleged.
