Rangers striker Kenny Miller is confident that the club will back Mark Warburton to adequately strengthen the squad in the summer.

The veteran Scottish striker played an important role in Rangers winning the Scottish Championship title and securing promotion back to the top tier for the first since the club suffered liquidation in 2012.

Rangers also won the Challenge Cup last month and could add their third trophy of the season when they play Hibernian in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park later this month.

With promotion secure, the Gers are already planning for next season and the club are keen to challenge Celtic’s dominance at the top of Scottish football.

And Miller is confident that Rangers manager Warburton will be given the funds in the summer to adequately replenish and retool the squad for the challenges of the Scottish Premiership.

The 36-year-old was quoted as saying by Herald Scotland: “The board have done a great job since they have come in and I am sure they will back the manager as much as they can with the summer recruits we are looking to get.

“There is no doubt we need signings because we are light in numbers and there are also situations that need to be resolved with the boys who are out of contract.

"We will need to sign players.

"We have full faith in the manager, Davie [David Weir], Jim [Stewart] and Frank [McParland] and the work they have done so far. We have full belief and trust in them.”

Rangers have not won a game since securing the title and will be looking to prepare themselves hard for the Scottish Cup final on 21st May.
