Rangers target Matthew Knox says being a Celtic fan would not stop him signing for the Gers.

Mark Warburton's men are keen on signing the 16-year-old Livingston prospect and had a £75,000 offer for the midfielder rejected last week. However, the Gers are expected to come back to the table with an improved proposal soon.

Knox, who turned out for Livingston as they beat Rangers 1-0 recently and provided the assist for his side's goal, is a Celtic fan and admires Bhoys legend Henrik Larsson.

But Knox says that would not stop him putting pen to paper for Rangers as he feels the Ibrox outfit are a "massive club".

"It’s a bit bizarre when I pick up the paper and see my name linked with Rangers, but who you support shouldn’t matter when it comes to which club you play for", he was quoted as saying by the Herald Scotland.

"My family are all Hearts fans and it doesn’t bother them that I play for Livingston and support Celtic.

"The number one reason I’m a Celtic fan is down to one man and that’s Henrik Larsson. When I was aged about five or six, I used to watch him play and I loved him", Knox continued.

"He is my ultimate hero.

"Even though I’m a Celtic fan, that wouldn’t stop me moving to Rangers. They are a massive club.

"As a professional footballer, it’s playing football that matters and that should come before everything else", the young midfielder added.

It remains to be seen if Livingston will agree to sell Knox to Rangers this summer, especially as the Scottish Championship side are keen to keep hold of the 16-year-old and develop his potential before bidding him farewell.
