Highly rated Leeds United youngster Ronaldo Vieira has put pen to paper on his first professional contract with the club and says he is "buzzing" to be kicking off his career proper with the Yorkshire giants.

Vieira has excited fans with his potential, earning good reviews from former Leeds academy head Paul Hart earlier this season.

His reward is a two-year contract at Leeds and the chance to prove his mettle. Vieira is ready to embrace the challenge and took time to pay tribute to those who have supported him in his career so far.

He posted a photograph on Instagram and wrote: "Buzzing to have signed my first professional contract for Leeds United today.

"[I] would like to thank all the staff and team-mates that has worked with me throughout my life so far and my family and friends. [sic]

"Also a special thank you to 121 staff for making it happen. Looking forward to the next two years."

Vieira has also been praised by youth coach Jason Blunt this term, who felt the starlet was the best player on the pitch during a recent Under-21 game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Blunt said: "You've obviously got Ronaldo Vieira who did extremely well the other day and could have scored two or three.

"[Against Birmingham] you probably didn't see him at his best because he's only just stepped up to the 21s, probably his first full game.

"He hasn't trained much with the 21s, so for him to go and have the game like he did the other day, up against the likes of Jason Puncheon, and be the best player on the pitch."

Leeds will be hoping Vieira can build on his progress this season and reward the faith shown in him by the club handing him a two-year deal.
