Dominic Ball has explained that his loan stint at Rangers has helped him to improve “massively” both as a player and as a person, putting him in a good place to challenge for a place in Mauricio Pochettino's plans at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old, who joined Rangers from Tottenham on a season-long loan deal last summer, played his last game for the Gers at the weekend; he is suspended for the Scottish Cup final against Hibernian on 21st May.

Ball made 30 appearances in all competitions for the Ibrox outfit and helped the club to win the Scottish Championship title and the Challenge Cup.

The defender, whose present contract with Tottenham is set to expire in the summer, spent the second half of last season on loan at League Two side Cambridge United.

And Ball insists the experience he gained at Rangers has matured him and will stay with him for the rest of his life.

“I think I’ve improved massively – not just as a player, but as a person too”, he told Rangers TV.

“I’ve matured loads and the experience I have gained here I will have for the rest of my life.

“I can see it only benefitting me on my journey going forward wherever that may be.

“At Spurs, you see them in games and the intensity that they play at – and you can tell it’s definitely stepped up from last year.

“I haven’t been in and around it for a year and a half, but I think the experience I’ve had at Cambridge and here has helped me massively.

“Going back in I am hoping to be in and around it if the manager thinks I’m good enough and I deserve my place.”

Ball previously played under Rangers boss Mark Warburton during his time at Watford’s academy.
