Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has revealed that winger Mustapha Carayol will miss his side’s last game of the season at Preston North End on Saturday.

The winger, who joined Leeds on loan from Middlesbrough in January, has been an important part of the squad in the second half of the season, but has missed the last four games with an injury.

And the Whites boss confirmed that though he could have taken a chance with Carayol on the last day of the season, he is not keen to take a risk and wants Carayol to go into the summer in top condition.

Evans also confirmed that Ross Killock, who has not played a game all season, will continue to remain outside the squad because of his long term injury, which has marred the defender’s campaign.

While speaking to LUTV, the Leeds boss said: “The only news of course is Big Ross is still missing and Mustapha Carayol is not quite right, so he will miss out.

“It has been a difficult end to the season for the boy because of injuries; could we have got him in there, but 90% clearance is not enough for the last day of the season as we want to send him into the summer 100% fit.

“Other than that, [we are] good to go.”

Leeds will need to beat Preston by four or more goals to finish eleventh in the Championship table.
