Leeds United head coach Steve Evans is confident that Massimo Cellino will want him to continue at Elland Road despite all the rumours surrounding his future.

Evans is set to lead out Leeds for the final game of the season at Preston North End tomorrow and it could be his final match as their manager, as his contract expires at the end of the term.

And club owner Cellino is yet to offer him any assurances that he is going to continue as Leeds boss beyond the summer, despite the club’s potential finish in the top half of the Championship table.

With Evans’ future under threat, a number of coaches have been linked with a move to Elland Road over the last few months, but the Scot insisted that the speculation never bothered him as he only likes to deal with facts.

And he believes Cellino will eventually ask him to continue as Leeds boss next season.

When asked whether the rumours linking others with his job affect him, the Scot said in a press conference: “I have been getting sacked for the last three months; there is a different coach every week.

“I was told by many great managers before me, who have sat on this chair, that you really need to not believe it and deal with the facts.

“And the fact is that I do believe that the president wants to take me forward and that’s why I am keen to meet him to hear his final thoughts.”
