Leeds United full-back Charlie Taylor believes Steve Evans knows how to get his players fired up and feels the Scot has done a commendable job at Elland Road this season.

Taylor started the season under Uwe Rosler as the club’s first choice left-back and despite being a fan of the German, he believes the former Leeds boss is a lot different to the more passionate Evans.

The 22-year-old added that the current Leeds manager knows what can keep his players ticking and is clear about what he wants from each individual in the team.

When asked about Evans, Taylor said on BBC Radio Leeds: “He is different from Uwe, different tactical managers. The gaffer now is very passionate, knows what he wants from his team and gets us all fired up.

“He knows how to get us going.”

Leeds were on the verge of getting sucked into the relegation pit when Evans took charge of the club in October, and Taylor pointed out that the club’s current standing in the league table is a testament to the job the Scot has done Elland Road this season.

“His record speaks for itself and I think he has got the best win ration under [Massimo] Cellino, so he gets the results.

“When he first came in here we were down in the bottom half and if we can win on Saturday and get a top half finish, it will be really good for him.”
