Leeds United are considering an approach for Italy legend Walter Zenga, as they ponder who might be their head coach next season.

Former Rotherham United manager Steve Evans is currently in charge at Elland Road, but his deal expires at the end of the season and Whites supremo Massimo Cellino has yet to offer him an extension.

Evans has continued to cut an optimistic figure over a new contract, despite continued talk of Leeds assessing other managerial options.

And according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, one of the names being considered is Zenga.

The 56-year-old, who won the IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper in three consecutive years as a player (1989, 1990 and 1991), has enjoyed a well travelled career as a coach.

Zenga has bossed in the United States, Romania, Serbia, his native Italy, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Leeds are set to end the current campaign in the upper half of the Championship table, but owner Cellino is aiming for a minimum top six finish next season.

Indeed, fans have been offered a partial refund on their season tickets if Leeds do not at least make the playoffs in the 2016/17 campaign.
