SC Cambuur sporting director Henry van der Vegt is confident that their relegation from the Dutch top flight won’t affect their partnership with Manchester City.

The Mancunian giants have a partnership with the Dutch outfit and often loan out their young players to Cambuur in order to provide them with experience of playing first team football in a top European league.

In recent years Irish midfielder Jack Byrne played on loan at Cambuur and also Albert Rusnak, who eventually earned a permanent move to FC Groningen, but the Dutch side suffered relegation this season after they finished at the bottom of the Eredivisie.

There are suggestions that Manchester City might pull out of their agreement with the club after watching them go down to the second tier of Dutch football.

But sporting director Van der Vegt is confident that the English giants will continue the partnership and revealed that he has already held talks with the Citizens.
