On loan Chelsea forward Radamel Falcao is expected to return to AS Monaco in the summer, after failing to impress during his loan spell at Stamford Bridge.

The Colombian joined the Blues on a loan deal from Monaco last summer, but has been little more than a passenger in west London during the 2015/16 campaign.

A groin injury has seen him lay low for most of the season and he has played just 14 minutes of Premier League football since November; he has not been part of the Chelsea squad for their last two Premier League fixtures.

Falcao has conceded that his time at Chelsea is coming to an end and revealed that he will be returning to Monaco, as the club want him for next season.

He also ruled out the possibility of returning to former club River Plate this summer.

The Colombian told TyC Sport: “I think I will return to Monaco this summer to stay there.

“The club want me for next season and I still have two years left on my contract.

“That’s why it seems very difficult that I will return to River.”

Falcao endured a similarly difficult season at Manchester United during his loan spell in the 2014/15 campaign and the Red Devils also opted not to sign him on a permanent contract.
