Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon has questioned Norwich City's judgement in letting striker Gary Hooper leave the club for Sheffield Wednesday.

Sunderland beating Everton last night sent Norwich down from the Premier League to the Championship and Lennon thinks the Canaries have struggled to score goals, paying the ultimate price.

Lennon managed Hooper at Celtic and cannot understand why Norwich chose to allow him to depart for the Owls, especially when they needed someone to put the ball in the back of the net.

"I don't think they have recruited great and their problem has been scoring goals", Lennon said on BBC Radio 5 live last night.

"I had Gary Hooper at Celtic, who is a great goalscorer, and they've let him go to Sheffield Wednesday where two seasons ago he was Norwich's leading scorer in the Premier League", he continued.

"So you maybe have to question some of the judgement on recruitment and player decisions as well."

Hooper was initially loaned out by Norwich to Sheffield Wednesday in October last year, having struggled to get into the Canaries side since the start of the season.

The striker enjoyed success in the Championship with the Owls and Wednesday snapped him up on a permanent deal in the winter transfer window.

Hooper has scored 13 goals in the Championship for Sheffield Wednesday, helping the side book a playoff spot.
