Former Stoke City defender Dominic Matteo believes that, similarly to what he did with the Potters, Tony Pulis has now taken West Brom as far as he can.

Matteo played under Pulis at the Britannia Stadium between 2007 and 2009 and was handed the captaincy by the manager in the campaign which saw the Potters earn promotion to the Premier League.

Pulis is now in charge at West Brom, but he has seen grumbles from fans over the style of play he has employed at the Hawthornes.

Matteo thinks Pulis is good at what he does, keeping teams in the Premier League, but as was the case at Stoke, has taken West Brom as far as he can.

He said on LFC TV ahead of Liverpool's visit to West Brom on Sunday: "I would say so [that it is fair he is under pressure].

"I think you know what you're going to get with Tony Pulis and his teams. He never changes.

"He took Stoke probably as far as he could. I think at West Brom he's taken West Brom probably as far as he will take them.

"He's good at what he does. He will keep teams in the Premier League.

"He won't change his methods. I've worked with him on the training field and it's not the best for a footballer to work with, but it's effective."

Pulis has West Brom sitting in 15th in the Premier League and sure of enjoying another season of top flight football next term.

The former Stoke boss will want his side to end the season on a high by putting Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool to the sword.
