Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has explained that it is highly unlikely he will ever play for Barcelona again, even if he wanted to.

The Spain international joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2014 after he fell down the pecking order at the Camp Nou.

Fabregas, who is a product of Barcelona’s youth system, was snapped up by Arsenal in 2003.

The 29-year-old spent eight years at Arsenal before Barcelona decided to re-sign him in 2011.

Fabregas made 151 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona, scoring 42 times and providing 57 assists and helped the club to one La Liga title, one Spanish Cup, two Spanish Super Cups, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Club.

However, a lack of playing time at Barcelona in the 2013/14 campaign prompted the Spaniard to quit the Catalan giants for Chelsea the following summer.

Fabregas stated that his Barcelona chapter is over and that it will be impossible for him to return to play for the Spanish champions.

“A return to Barca is no longer possible. It is impossible”, he told Spanish daily Marca.

“Even if I wanted to [return], the Barcelona chapter is over and closed.”

Fabregas has thus far amassed 95 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 10 times and setting up 33 goals.
