Arsenal have slapped an asking price on Wojciech Szczesny, letting Roma know how much they must pay if they want to sign the goalkeeper on a permanent contract this summer.

The Pole joined the Giallorossi last summer on a season-long loan deal after he saw himself dropping down the goalkeeping pecking order following Petr Cech’s arrival at the Emirates.

Szczesny has been in terrific form for Roma this season and has been the first choice goalkeeper at the Stadio Olimpico, but it is still unclear whether he will stay at the club beyond the summer.

While both Roma and the player want to continue their partnership, negotiations with Arsenal have been rocky and according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, the Gunners want €20m for the player.

Roma are unwilling to part ways with such a fee for Szczesny as they are on the verge of signing another goalkeeper in Alisson from Internacional in the next few days.

However, the club remain keen to hold on to the Pole and are planning to sign him on another loan deal in the summer.

Despite the possible arrival of Alisson, Roma coach Luciano Spalletti wants Szczesny to stay and has asked the club hierarchy to get a deal done.
