West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan’s son, Jack Sullivan, has confirmed reports that Lyon have turned down a big money offer from the Hammers for striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The French striker has been in demand since last summer, but Lyon have managed to hold on to the player despite interest from some of the top clubs in Europe.

Many feel this could be the summer that Lacazette finally leaves Lyon for a big money move to a top club and West Ham are one of the sides who are keen to take him to England.

Reports emerged last night that Lyon rejected a £31m offer from West Ham for Lacazette and while West Ham officially didn’t react to the speculation, Jack confirmed that the story is accurate and £31m was turned down.

Referring to the report about the failed bid, Jack wrote on Twitter: “Sadly this one is true.”

With European football on the horizon and a move to the swanky new Olympic Stadium next season, the Hammers are looking to splurge the cash this summer and are hoping to attract some top talents to the club.

It remains to be seen whether they decide to offer more money to snare Lacazette away from Lyon.

Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly interested in the Lyon striker, along with Paris Saint-Germain.
