Chelsea loanee Nathan Ake has expressed his delight after winning Watford’s Young Player of the Year award.

The 21-year-old, who joined Watford on a season-long loan deal from the Blues last summer, featured heavily for the Hornets in the recently concluded season.




Ake made 28 appearances in all competitions for Watford, scoring once, as the Vicarage Road outfit finished 13th in the Premier League in their first season back in the top flight.

The left-back’s impressive displays enabled him to be named as Watford’s Young Player of the Year, with the youngster thanking everyone associated with the club after receiving the award.
 


“Happy to have won the Young Player Of The Year award. thank you everyone at Watford and the Fans for this season!!” Ake tweeted alongside posting a picture of himself holding the trophy.

Ake, who joined Chelsea’s academy from Feyenoord in late 2010, made his Premier League debut for the Stamford Bridge outfit in December 2012.

The Dutchman has thus far made 12 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, setting up one goal.

Ake, who is contracted with Chelsea until 2020, is yet to earn a senior cap for the Netherlands but has represented his nation up to Under-21 level.
