Lazio have lodged an enquiry with Everton over defender Ramiro Funes Mori, but could face competition from Manchester United for his signature, according to Italian outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

The Argentina international has been a vital member of the Toffees since joining the club from River Plate last year.

Funes Mori made 37 appearances in all competitions for Everton in the 2015/16 campaign, scoring five times and providing two assists.

And Lazio, who are in the market for two centre-backs, have identified the 25-year-old as a potential signing, going as far as to lodge an enquiry for the defender in the last 24 hours.

Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the Argentine, whose contract with Everton runs until 2020, and it has been claimed the Toffees value the defender at €15m.
