Manchester United have made an offer to buy Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, who has shone at the Portuguese champions this season.

The 21-year-old, a versatile defender, has enjoyed a fine campaign at the Estadio da Luz and Manchester United have zeroed in on him as a potential summer signing.

According to Swedish daily Aftonbladet, the Red Devils have put forward an offer of £20m for Lindelof as they look to take him to Old Trafford.

The defender has a release clause in his Benfica contract, which is set at £22,5m, a figure Manchester United may need to reach if they are to scoop up his signature.

Indeed, Benfica are reluctant to sell the Sweden international and have been making noises over signing him to a new contract.
