Pep Guardiola still wants Ilkay Gundogan at Manchester City, despite the midfielder being out injured, according to German magazine Sport Bild.

Guardiola is taking charge at the Etihad Stadium this summer when he departs Bayern Munich and has already spent time analysing how he wants the Citizens' squad to be bolstered.

The Spaniard was keen on Gundogan before he picked up a knee injury earlier this month. The injury has ruled the Borussia Dortmund midfielder out of Euro 2016 while it is still not known when he will be fit again.

But Guardiola has not given up on Manchester City signing Gundogan, even though the midfielder is sidelined.

Borussia Dortmund rejected a bid of €23m plus add-ons for Gundogan before his injury, however the fact the midfielder is sidelined is claimed to mean they will now drop their asking price.

The 25-year-old made a total of 40 appearances for Dortmund during the 2015/16 campaign, scoring three goals and providing his team-mates with seven assists.
