Patrick Roberts feels he has managed to repay Ronny Deila through his performances for Celtic.

Deila, who parted ways with the Hoops after the end of the season, signed Roberts on a one-and-a-half-year loan deal from Manchester City during the winter transfer window.

The 19-year-old has thus far made 13 appearances in all competitions for Celtic, scoring six times and providing two assists and helped the club to their fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership triumph.

And Roberts, who congratulated Deila on the league win, insisted that he is thankful to the Norwegian for bringing him to Celtic.

“I congratulated the manager and said thank you”, he said in this week’s Celtic View.

“He obviously brought me here and I wanted to repay him on the pitch and I feel I have done so.

“I’m just happy and thankful that he has brought me here.”

Roberts, who progressed through Fulham’s youth system, was snapped up by Manchester City last summer.

He clocked up just 54 minutes over three appearances in all competitions for the Citizens before joining Celtic in search of more playing time.

The winger, whose contract with Manchester City runs until 2020, has represented England up to Under-19 level.
