Hellas Verona have identified Mirco Antenucci, who is leaving Leeds United this summer, as a preferred signing in the summer transfer window.

Antenucci's contract with Leeds is running out this summer and the club confirmed on Friday that he is departing Elland Road.

The striker, who regularly hit the back of the net during his time in England, was keen to return to Italy in January, but Leeds waved off his suitors and kept him at Elland Road.

Now though Antenucci is on his way back to Italy and Verona are keen on his services, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia.

Verona believe bagging Antenucci would give them a boost in their bid to win promotion from Serie B to Serie A next season.
