Anthony Stokes feels he shut up his critics by scoring a brace for Hibernian in their 3-2 Scottish Cup final win over Rangers on Saturday.

The forward, on loan at Hibernian from Rangers' fierce rivals Celtic, needed only three minutes to break the deadlock at Hampden Park.

Rangers levelled in the 27th minute and then went ahead in the 64th minute, but Stokes pegged the Gers back by scoring in the 80th minute for Alan Stubbs' men.

Then when the match appeared set for extra-time, up popped David Gray to head in a Liam Henderson corner and hand Hibs their first Scottish Cup since 1902.

There was a subsequent pitch invasion as Hibs fans celebrated wildly.

Stokes feels that his performance shut up his critics and took aim at several who "piped up" prior to the cup final.

"Yes I did [use today to answer my critics]", he said on BBC Scotland after the match.

"I heard a couple of people pipe up before the game, ex-players and that.

"Listen, I've never doubted my own ability. It's down to me to perform and I did that today", Stokes continued.

"I don't care about my performance, I don't care about my goals, I'm just happy this club has got this voodoo out of the way and we've finally won this cup", he added.
