Arsenal have announced that Alexis Sanchez is to take the number 7 shirt at the club for the 2016/17 campaign.

The Chilean forward arrived at Arsenal from Barcelona in the summer of 2014 and took the number 17 shirt at the Emirates Stadium.




But following the departure of Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky, Sanchez has opted to take the number 7 shirt and is switching to the number immediately.

Arsenal announced: "New season, new kit, new number for Alexis Sanchez."
 


Sanchez has established himself as a key man at Arsenal since linking up with the Premier League club from Spanish giants Barcelona.

The forward has been linked with moving on from Arsenal at points of late, however taking a new shirt number at the club suggests that leaving is not in his thoughts, something which will please Gunners fans.

Sanchez won the FA Cup with Arsenal in his first season at the club, but could not help the Gunners to silverware in the current campaign as they finished second in the Premier League.
