Liverpool are unlikely to make a move for out-of-favour Bayern Munich playmaker Mario Gotze this summer, according to the Press Association.

Gotze has been widely linked with a move away from the Bavarians at the end of the season, while incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti has asked him to consider his options.

Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a move for their former player this summer but there were strong claims that Jurgen Klopp is keen to reunite with the German at Liverpool.

However, in recent days it seems the possibility of Gotze remaining at Bayern Munich is high as he recently said that he is keen to work under the tutelage of Ancelotti.

And with Liverpool missing out on European football next season, it has been claimed that the club are no longer considering the possibility of signing Gotze this summer.

Liverpool are close to securing a deal to sign Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius and have already signed Marko Grujic and Joel Matip this summer.

However, Gotze is unlikely to be one of the new players who will be wearing the Liverpool red next season at Anfield.
