Manchester City are on the verge of agreeing a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

The 25-year-old midfielder is currently nursing a serious knee injury and will miss Germany’s European Championship campaign, but it hasn’t stopped Manchester City from making their move.

The Citizens have moved ahead with their plan to sign Gundogan this summer, and are on the verge of sealing a deal that would see the midfielder move to the Etihad in the next few months.

According to Bild, the club are close to agreeing a deal that would see them pay Dortmund an initial fee of €23m, and the figure could rise to €26m based on his performances in England.

In recent days, Dortmund have been saying that Gundogan would either have to agree a long term contract with the club or move on from the Westfalenstadion this summer.

And it seems the 25-year-old has taken up the latter option by agreeing to move to Etihad to work under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola.

It has been suggested Gundogan has already agreed personal terms with Manchester City and the transfer is all but certain to happen this summer, despite his current injury.
