Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has revealed that he will speak to his Netherlands compatriot Wesley Sneijder if his side officially appoint Jose Mourinho as their new boss.

Mourinho is the favourite to replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford after the Dutchman was sacked by Manchester United last night.

And as Sneijder has experience of playing under Mourinho at Inter Milan, Depay explained that he will talk to the current Galatasaray star if the Portuguese’s appointment becomes official.

“If Mourinho’s arrival becomes official, I’ll ask Wesley Sneijder what kind of a man he is”, he said in an interview with the Associated Press.

“The reports and all are interesting, but nothing is official yet.”

Depay has thus far failed to make his mark at Manchester United since joining the club from PSV Eindhoven last summer.

The 22-year-old managed just seven goals and six assists in 45 appearances in all competitions in the 2015/16 campaign.

But the Netherlands international insisted that he is not worried about his future at Manchester United and stated that the sacking of Van Gaal, who brought him to the club, has no effect on him.

"No, this [sacking of Van Gaal] has no effect on me”, he continued.

“I'm happy to be with Manchester United and the board is happy with me. So I do not know why [these things come up].”

Depay, whose present contract with Manchester United runs until 2019, has 23 caps and three goals for the Netherlands to his name.
