Rangers have completed the signing of Joey Barton on a free transfer following his departure from Burnley.

The Clarets wanted to keep Barton after he helped the club win promotion from the Championship this season and the midfielder was offered a new deal at Turf Moor.

But Rangers jumped in for Barton and manager Mark Warburton has convinced the Englishman to head north of the border to continue his career.

Barton has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at Ibrox and will officially join the club on 1st July.

Rangers will hope Barton can add real bite to their midfield next season, when they will be turning out in Scotland's top tier, the Premiership.
