Besiktas are interested in signing Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel in the summer, according to the Press Association.

Skrtel, whose present contract with Liverpool runs until 2018, has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.

Even in Mamadou Sakho’s absence due to a failed drug test, Skrtel was left to warm the bench as Klopp preferred the central defensive partnership of Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure.

It now seems Skrtel’s days at Liverpool are numbered, and Turkish champions Besiktas are ready to cash in on the situation by swooping in for the Slovakia international.

Skrtel made 28 appearances in all competitions in the 2015/16 campaign, scoring once, while he has turned out 320 times in total for the Merseyside giants, netting 18 times.
