Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign winger Leroy Sane from Schalke, but could face competition for his signature.

Sane has enhanced his reputation at Schalke this season, being linked with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool as a result, which incoming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is also a big fan of the young German. Manchester United and Arsenal have also been mooted as keen.

Manchester City made it clear they would pay €50m to sign Sane in the winter transfer window, but the player himself did not want to quit Schalke.

Things could be different this summer though and according to German magazine Sport Bild, Bayern Munich have jumped into the race as they eye a long term replacement for ageing wingers Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

The Bundesliga champions could even agree to loan Sane back to Schalke for next season, making sure they have secured his services in time for him to arrive in the summer of 2016.

Schalke know that Sane has a release clause of €37m which kicks in in 2017 and are keen to realise more than that sum by cashing in this summer.

The 20-year-old is wanted by a number of clubs however and Bayern Munich may not have a free run at scooping up his signature.
