Louis van Gaal’s ex-coaching ally Co Adriaanse is not sure that the Dutchman will go into retirement after losing his Manchester United job.

The Dutchman was sacked by the Red Devils on Monday night and is now expected to stay true to his word about retiring from top level management to spend more time with his wife and family.

Van Gaal always maintained that his stint with Manchester United would be his last job in management, but Adriaanse, who worked with the 64-year-old in the past, is not sure about that.

The Dutchman has insisted that the former Manchester United and Barcelona manager will soon get bored with life and might jump at the opportunity of returning to Ajax, if an offer lands on his table.

Adriaanse also added Van Gaal might even take the challenge of coaching in Italy, if he gets an opportunity.

The 68-year-old was quoted as saying by Dutch outlet Soccernews: “He will not retire.

“Louis is not a stamp collector; three or four days in Portugal, he will have enough of it, unfortunately for Truus [Van Gaal’s wife]."

When asked whether Van Gaal might accept an offer to return to Ajax, Adriaanse said: “They are the only Dutch club he would go to; if Ajax calls, Louis will work for another year.

“Even an Italian club could tempt him; I know he struggled with English, but he is good in Italian.”
