Rangers captain Lee Wallace has pulled out of the Scotland squad that will face Italy and France in international friendlies next week.

The defender enjoyed a stellar season with Rangers and won the PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year and the club's Player of the Year, as he led the club to the Scottish Championship title.

He already has seven international caps to his name and on the back of his good performances he was again recalled to the squad for the friendlies against Italy and France.

However, the Rangers captain won’t be playing any part in the games as he pulled out of the national team squad with an injury and will be looking to recuperate ahead of pre-season with the club.

The Glasgow giants will want to see their captain gain full fitness by the time the players return for pre-season training this summer, and the club are expected to be extra careful with Wallace’s injury.
