Newcastle United have agreed to give total control of the club’s transfer business to Rafael Benitez and are set to provide written guarantees to the Spaniard over his position at the club

Benitez took charge of the ailing north east giants with just ten games left to play in the Premier League season, and while he failed to prevent their drop to the Championship, the Spaniard managed to create a connection with the fans.

The former Liverpool boss has a clause in his current contract which allows him to walk away from the job after the club were relegated, but Newcastle have been trying for days to convince the Spaniard to sign a new deal.

And it seems they have succeeded as Benitez is reportedly on the verge of signing a new three-year deal with the club today and has been tasked with the job of earning promotion from the Championship next season.

However, Benitez has bargained hard with the club, and according to the Northern Echo, Newcastle have agreed to provide him complete freedom when it comes to their transfer business.

Chief scout Graham Carr, who controlled the transfer business at St. James’ Park, will leave the club soon, and Benitez has also insisted on some written guarantees over the extent of his role as manager at Newcastle United.

The Magpies are pinning their hopes on Benitez to help them return to the Premier League as soon as possible.
