Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has revealed that the holding midfielder's role has given him a lot of positives and he is enjoying it very much.

Since moving from Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon, Dier has performed multiple roles for Mauricio Pochettino's team.




While the 22-year-old was primarily used as a defender and right-back during the 2014/15 season, the Argentine manager switched his position to play him as a holding midfielder this season.

Dier, on his part has done justice to his new role playing in 37 of the team's 38 Premier League matches and missed only three in the course of the entire season. He also added four goals to his name in the process in addition to two assists.  
 


The player's England debut in fact happened as a holding midfielder and he insists that he enjoys performing that particular role. According to the England international, it has given him a lot of positives and has a desire to continue there.

“I’ve enjoyed [the role] very much from when I started playing there for my club until now”, Dier was quoted as saying by his club's official website.

“It’s given me great things in football this season with Tottenham and obviously I made my England debut there and have played quite a few games for England there.

“The role has given me a lot of positives and I’m enjoying it very much.”
