Steve Evans has urged Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino to give him "closure" with the writing on the wall over his future as head coach at the club.

The Scot, who met the objective set by him for Cellino upon taking the role in October, that of keeping the Whites clear of relegation trouble, has just over a month to run on his contract at Elland Road.

Cellino has been touting Evans' job around, being knocked back by MK Dons boss Karl Robinson, while he is now strongly chasing Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke.

But the Italian has yet to pay Evans the courtesy of letting him know he will not be kept on at Leeds, leaving the Scot in limbo.

Evans met with his advisors today and knows the writing is on the wall for him at Leeds.

However, he urged Cellino to come clean on his plans and speak to him about his future to provide closure on his time at the Yorkshire giants.

"The time has arrived for Mr Cellino to tell me I'm not head coach for next season", he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"Obviously I now need to know the direction of my career.

"In summary, I just need closure", he added.

Evans has backed himself to launch Leeds on a promotion charge if he remains at Elland Road, but despite losing Sam Byram during his time at the club and only being able to sign three players, two on loan, he is not set to have the chance to make good on his words.
