Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole believes that Jose Mourinho will be working overtime at Old Trafford to put one of the biggest powerhouses in world football back on the right track.

The Red Devils confirmed the Portuguese as their new manager earlier today on a three-year deal with the option of extending it by one more year.

Cole, who was part of the Old Trafford-based outfit between 1995 and 2001, believes that the 53-year-old has got what it takes to put his old club back where they belong.

After being sacked by Chelsea in December last year due to poor performances, Cole insists that the former Real Madrid boss has something to prove and his desire will in turn help Manchester United.

"He has something to prove as an individual and he will try to get Manchester United, one of the biggest powerhouses in football, back on the right track", Cole told his former club's official website.

The former England international further believes that the marriage between Mourinho and Manchester United is one made in heaven and when the new season comes, the club will start fighting for honours again.

"Hopefully it will be a marriage made in heaven and we can start competing again."

Mourinho's stint as the manager of Manchester United will begin with a friendly against Borussia Dortmund on 22nd July followed by yet another match against city rivals Manchester City three days later.
