Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson has explained the side are cracking on with plan A in the transfer market after not managing to qualify for Europe.

The Gers saw their dream of playing in the Europa League shattered as they lost the Scottish Cup final to Hibernian 3-2 on 21st May at Hampden Park.

While the loss can be seen as a big disappointment in the side's quest to bring in quality players to strengthen the squad, Robertson insists that his team will still stick to their plan – that is to build a team that can challenge in the Premiership.

With as many as four transfers having been completed, the managing director insists that they will pay attention to manager Mark Warburton's plan to add as many players as possible before 18th June, when the players return from their break for pre-season.

Speaking to the club's official channel, Robertson explained: “Europe would have been a bonus. We’re obviously disappointed we didn’t win the cup, but had we won, we would have sat down and reassessed things in terms of what was required squad-wise if we were to make it through the rounds.

“We go as we were though with plan A, and that’s building a team for the Premiership, one that can compete at the top end of the Premiership and one that gives us every chance of winning the Premiership.

“Mark has been up front consistently that he is keen to get as many players as possible in before 18th June when the boys come back for pre-season.

“We have already signed four and there are others in the pipeline.

"Hopefully we will have the majority done before June 18, and that’s really important as it allows the boys to bed in and you then have them bonding as a group and creating the team spirit as quickly as possible, and that’s something we’re going to need next season."
