West Ham United shot-stopper Darren Randolph has claimed that this season could not have been any better for him.

The 29-year-old, who hails from the Republic of Ireland, made 15 starts for the Hammers this season, acting as an effective second choice to Slaven Bilic’s first choice goalkeeper Adrian.

Randolph joined the London based club from Birmingham City on a Bosman transfer last summer, having also plied his trade with clubs such as Bradford City and Charlton Athletic.

The goalkeeper earned himself a place in Martin O’Neill’s provisional 35-man squad for the upcoming Euro 2016, in which Randolph’s side have been placed alongside Italy, Belgium and Sweden in Group E.

The former Bantams goalkeeper has admitted that his first season at West Ham could not have been any better for him.

He told West Ham’s official website: “When I look back at the season I don't think it could have gone any better for me.

“I played a lot more football than I thought I would play and have got into the Ireland team and helped us qualify for the Euro finals this summer.

“I have played league games and had a great cup run. As first seasons go it has been pretty unbelievable.

“There is a great feeling around the football club and it is probably one of the best changing rooms I have been part of”, said Randolph, who has also been at Motherwell.

“I know everyone talks about a great team spirit but we genuinely have that and there is no little cliques in the dressing room and everyone gets on."

The Irons finished seventh in the Premier League this season, but Manchester United’s recent FA Cup triumph means that they will play in the Europa League next season.
