Besiktas are ready to rekindle their interest in Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina this summer, but they also have alternatives on their shortlist.

The Turkish giants have been chasing the Colombian’s signature since last summer, and were keen to snare him away from Arsenal in the winter transfer window, but a deal never came into existence.

Besiktas are still in the market for a quality goalkeeper and according to Turkish daily Takvim, they are ready to resume their chase for the Arsenal goalkeeper this summer too.

Ospina, who played second fiddle to Petr Cech last season at the Emirates, is expected to remain Arsenal’s second choice goalkeeper, and Besiktas are confident that they can convince the Colombian to leave north London.

The Colombian international joined Arsenal from Nice in 2014, and managed to dethrone Wojciech Szczesny as the club’s number one in his first season, but things have changed since Cech’s arrival last summer.

First choice goalkeeper for his country, Ospina is said to be keen to play week-in-week-out at club level too, and is expected to seek assurances from Arsenal this summer about his place in the squad.

However, Besiktas are not hedging all their bets on Ospina leaving Arsenal, and could make a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Salvatore Sirigu, should the Colombian choose to stay in England.
