Scottish champions Celtic have announced the appointment of Glen Driscoll as their new head of performance.

Driscoll has been closely associated with newly appointed manager Brendan Rodgers, having worked with him at Liverpool and Swansea.




The experienced and highly rated former Liverpool coach boasts of having worked under some of the best managers across Europe.

Driscoll was at Chelsea for nine years where he worked with current Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti.
 


Praising the appointment, former Liverpool and current Celtic boss Rodgers said that he believes that the experience Driscoll will bring will be hugely helpful for the Celtic players.

The newly appointed head of performance on his part said that the opportunity to reunite with Rodgers will be exciting for him. As far as his role is concerned, Driscoll said that he will be looking to prevent injury and ensure a high level of player availability.

“Bringing Glen to Celtic is great news for our players who will benefit from the huge breadth of knowledge he has across all areas of performance", Rodgers told his club's official website.

“The experience he will bring to the club will be invaluable to our players and I know he will work very well with the excellent medical and performance staff already at the club.
