Fiorentina have entered the race for Tottenham Hotspur target Franco Vazquez, according to Italian daily Tuttosport.

The Palermo attacking midfielder enjoyed a decent 2015/16 campaign, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 38 appearances in all contracts.

However, Vazquez has been linked with a move away from Palermo in the summer, with Spurs interested.

But it seems Fiorentina have barged into the race for the Italy international, whose present contract with Palermo runs until 2019.

It has been claimed that Palermo rate their prized asset somewhere in the region between €20m to €30m.

During the winter transfer window, former Palermo boss Davide Ballardini insisted that he felt Vazquez was ready to play in the Premier League.

But the 27-year-old wishes to remain in Italy, a boost for Fiorentina. However, La Viola will struggle to meet Palermo's asking price, something Spurs would be able to do.

Vazquez, who joined Palermo from in 2012 Belgrano, has two senior caps for Italy to his name.
