AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has indicated that the Rossoneri don’t have the funds to pay Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s salary.

The Swede ended his four-year stay at Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly keen to reunite new manager Jose Mourinho with his former Inter Milan player at Old Trafford and are in talks to sign the mercurial forward on a free transfer.

Super agent Mino Raiola has stressed that no deal has been agreed yet with any club and his client also has offers from other clubs in Europe, suggesting the Manchester United move is not a nailed on certainty.

The Italian super agent met AC Milan’s transfer chief Galliani on Friday, sparking speculation that Ibrahimovic could be on his way back to the San Siro this summer.

However, Galliani played down the importance of the meeting and indicated that AC Milan don’t have the financial muscle to meet the Swede’s exorbitant wage demands.

On the meeting with Raiola, the AC Milan CEO told Italian broadcaster Mediaset Premium Sport: “I always meet Raiola; three or four of his players are at Milan and we have a long relationship with him.

“Meeting Raiola is not a problem; the problem is in paying Ibrahimovic.”

Ibrahimovic scored 56 goals in 85 appearances for the Rossoneri and won a Serie A title with the club in 2011.
