Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has expressed his delight at seeing Marcus Rashford scoring on his debut for England last night.

The 18-year-old striker continued his meteoric rise in football when he scored in the third minute for England against Australia at the Stadium of Light, to become the youngest debutant to score for the Three Lions.

Other than scoring on his debut, Rashford impressed with his complete game play and is now being backed to get into Roy Hodgson’s final 23-man squad that will fly to France for the European Championship this summer.

Rashford scored on his Europa League debut, his Premier League debut and his FA Cup debut this season for Manchester United and was one of the shining lights at Old Trafford in the second half of the campaign.

And Schweinsteiger is delighted to see his young Manchester United team-mate make the same kind of impact on his debut for the Three Lions.

The Germany captain took to Twitter and wrote: “Our Manchester United youngster is on a roll!

“Congrats to Marcus Rashford scoring on his senior debut for England last night!”

Rashford’s rise this season has been nothing less than astonishing as he started the campaign in Manchester United's Under-18s and has only played a handful of games for the club’s Under-21 side.

He also made his senior debut for England last night, without turning out for the Under-21s ever.
