Former Rangers defender Hugh Burns is excited by the imminent arrival of Josh Windass at Ibrox.

Windass put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement with Rangers in the winter transfer window and is moving to the Scottish giants this summer following the expiry of his contract with English League Two outfit Accrington Stanley.

The midfielder is viewed as one for the future at Rangers, but Burns, who watched the 22-year-old in action in the League Two playoffs against AFC Wimbledon, is already excited about his talent.

Indeed, Burns thought Windass did excellently in the playoff game when playing on a poor surface, showing good technique, pace and hunger to succeed.

"I saw Windass the other night playing for Accrington on probably the worst pitch I've ever seen in my life against Wimbledon, it was an absolute cow park", Burns said on Rangers TV while assessing the Gers' campaign.

"His touch still looked good and his pace is there.

"He's hungry and he looked the part", the former defender added.

Windass will be joined at Rangers by his Accrington team-mate Matt Crooks and the pair will be looking to catch Gers boss Mark Warburton's eye over pre-season.
