Rangers legend Peter Lovenkrands feels that Celtic skipper Scott Brown failed miserably when he tried to intimidate the Gers players in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Celtic started as firm favourites to beat their fierce rivals in the Old Firm clash at Scotland's national stadium, but Rangers bossed the game and counted themselves unlucky to need penalties to beat the Bhoys.

Mark Warburton's men made a mockery of their Scottish Championship status and Lovenkrands says that Brown eyeballed the Rangers players before the game, trying to intimidate them – and the Dane says Andy Halliday had the Celtic star in his pocket.

"Celtic thought they were going to intimidate Rangers because they thought these players have never played in an Old Firm [game], they have no idea what is going on up here", he said on Rangers TV, assessing the season.

"Did anyone notice Scott Brown's handshakes at the start of the game, the way he was eyeballing them all, looking at them like I'm going to do you all here on the pitch?" Lovenkrands continued.

"And he got absolutely ran over in that game.

"He was invisible.

"Halliday had him in his back pocket the whole game and I think that put down a marker for the game because Rangers bossed it from the start."

Rangers and Celtic will come face to face regularly from next season with the Gers winning promotion from the Championship this term.
