Arsenal could move to sign Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez, however the clock is ticking on the 23-year-old's release clause.

The Gunners recently did business in Germany, completing a €45m deal to sign Switzerland international midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.

And according to German daily Bild, Arsenal could swoop for another Switzerland international plying his trade in the Bundesliga in the shape of Rodriguez.

Arsenal youth coach Andries Jonker, who worked at Wolfsburg as assistant boss until 2014, is a firm fan of the left-back, while the Gunners' own options for the position at present are the ageing Nacho Monreal and the injury prone Kieran Gibbs.

But if Arsenal do want to sign Rodriguez then they will need to act quickly or face paying a higher price than at present.

Rodriguez has a release clause in his contract at Wolfsburg which is set at just €26m, but it is only valid until the end of June.

The left-back has regularly been linked with Premier League clubs in recent years, on the back of his good performances at the Volkswagen Arena for Wolfsburg.

Rodriguez joined Wolfsburg in 2012 from FC Zurich.
