Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has explained that he is worried about the club enduring another “non-existent” season in the 2016/17 campaign.

At present there are several uncertainties surrounding the Whites, who finished the 2015/16 campaign in 13th spot in the Championship.

Leeds, who are yet to offer Steve Evans a new deal and have avoided telling 53-year-old his fate, are openly on the lookout for a new manager; although the club’s search is yet to bear any fruit.

The Yorkshire giants have also not started contractual talks with Charlie Taylor and Lewis Cook, who have just a year remaining on their present deals with the club.

Leeds are also yet to dip into the transfer market, while the other clubs in the division are already busy strengthening their squads.

And Whelan, who believes Leeds will not be relegated next season, however, thinks the club will have a bang average campaign if they do not sort out their issues in the summer.

“I’m very worried”, he wrote in his column in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I don’t think we will go down next year but I just feel like we are going to have another non-existent season if we don’t start getting things right between now and the start of the season.”

Leeds finished 15 points adrift of the play-off spots last season.
