Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason is saddened by the fact that he was prevented from playing more games this term as a result of injury, but believes that knocks are part and parcel of the game.

The young midfielder was plagued with multiple injuries over the course of the season, failing to find consistency and had his appearances limited to 29 overall.

In addition, the fine form of two other midfielders, Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier, further damaged his chances with manager Mauricio Pochettino preferring to stick to the successful duo at the heart of the midfield.

For Mason, the overall experience wasn't that good as he insists that he would have preferred to play more games had he not been plagued by injuries.

“That’s [injuries] part of football”, Mason told his club's official website.

"Obviously I’d have liked to have played a bit more but I got injuries at bad times, had long spells on the sidelines, the team did well and the players in my position did well too."

Mason though is clear about his desire to come back stronger for next season and believes that he will be helped in his attempt by the strong positive vibe around the team, which he believes is the most important thing for a successful side.

“People get injuries but as long as you come back stronger and you don’t have a negative attitude around the place, I think that’s the most important thing.”
